  • Blue Pacific Ceanothos 18cm

    Sale! $13.98 $11.98
Ceanothus Blue Pacific is an attractive evergreen shrub with dark green rough foliage, that during the Spring months is laden with masses of rich deep blue flowers  in dense clusters, that have a sweet scent and the bees in your garden will go just absolutely go nuts for. Blue Pacific is fast growing,  tough and hardy and will grow 2 - 3 metres tall, by 2 metres wide in full hot sun, but can also handle very light shading.... flowers and performs better in the sun, but we have had good growth and flowers in very light shade here in the Dandenong ranges. Plant Blue Pacific in well drained soils, as it does not like wet feet and a regular pruning after flowering will help to encourage and maintain compactness and prolific flowering. We try to keep stock of blue pacific for most of the year, but sometimes it is on a popular spell and sells out until our next crop is ready, so if you miss out this time, there will be a next crop available at some point.

  • Callistemon Kings Park Special 14cm

    $6.99
Callistemon Kings Park Special, is one of my... many...  favourite native trees in the garden for vibrant bright red bottle brush flowers that attract nectar feeding birds, bees and butterflies to our garden. Kings Park is a bushy evergreen Australian native tree that has attractive weeping branches of grey / green foliage and as mentioned above, vibrant deep red bottlebrush flowers during the Spring through to Autumn Months. Kings Park will grow up to 4.5 metres tall by 3 metres wide in full sun, can perform ok in a little shade, but really needs the sun to gain those vibrant flowers, .... if you put it in too much shade,  you will just end up with a droopy shag of s--t, instead of an impressive specimen tree. Kings park also makes a great screen or hedge. Kings Park is tough and hardy and will perform well in pretty much most soil types, is tolerant of of dry periods, frosts and poor drainage. Regular pruning will help to maintain a desirable shape, improve flowering, new compact growth and vigour. Use a slow release fertiliser once per year, formulated for Australian native plants and mulch well before each Summer. Kings Park is something we have available most of the year... except when completely sold out!!

  • Duranta China Girl 20cm

    Sale! $18.98 $13.98
Duranta China Girl is a beautiful plant with bright shiny green leaves on weeping branches that can grow up to  2 metres tall by 1.5metres wide. China Girl loves full sun to partial shade, we planted our Duranta china girl in our garden in a little more shade than suggested and it still grows great. the best feature of Duranta China Girl is from Spring until Autumn, this spectacular plant has deep violet flowers that are contrasted with a pure white centre that radiates outwards as well as encircling each petal, which are delicately fragrant...... I sense the smell of vanilla, some agree with me, some don't, but either way, the fragrance is soft,  sweet and delightful Duranta China Girl respond well to regular pruning, needs a regular water during the warmer months and prefers a well drained soil for the rest of the year. China Girl is great as a feature plant on its own either in the garden or in a pot, is great in fragrant or sensory gardens, can be used as a screen for privacy, hedging or borders, can be used as espalier, or used as a topiary standard. Another forgotten old fashioned favourite, due to reduced garden space in modern homes, but with some clever ways to have one such as topiary standard in a pot, Duranta China Girl is A must have in your garden.

  • Fatsia Japonica or Japanese Aralia 12cm

    Sale! $8.49 $6.29
Japanese Aralia is a hardy evergreen shrub with attractive large shiny foliage that is ideal for use indoors and out. Outside in the garden, clusters of white flowers appear in the Autumn months, followed by small black fruit ( dont eat). Japanes Aralia can grow 1 - 2 metres indoors in a pot / containers/ large tub,  by about 80+cms wide    and outdoors planted in the garden, they can reach a whopping  3-6 metres tall by about 2-3+ metres wide Japanese Aralia is ideal as an indoor plant and perfect for patio pots and shady corners of tropical and sub tropical gardens, it prefers a well lit position indoors and a shaded warm, frost - free position outdoors......  Like most Indoor plants... Japanese Aralia can be harmful if eaten and to some can be a skin an eye irritant... so basically, dont rub it all over your eyes and dont eat it... it is not a vegetable !!!. i have always owned pets and none of them have died from any of our indoor plants, they would need to ingest a lot to die, a small taste may not be enough to kill them, they may get the runs, but that is about it.... unless your pet is just nuts, then probably get some fake plants instead.... sorry !! prune Aralias to maintain shape, apply liquid fertiliser to potted plants regularly during the growing season.... ie Spring, Summer and early Autumn and water moderately in the garden during the warmer months and only when required ( soil not cool to touch) with the indoors potted Aralias.
