English Box Hedging
Possibly one of the most common and favourite plants used around the world for low to medium hedges for hundreds of years…… Buxus Sempervirens, or more well known as English Box, is a very hardy evergreen shrub with small deep green leaves, that thrives in a wide range of soils and conditions, but prefers a sunny open position in moist to well drained soils.
English Box can tolerate a range of conditions including frosts and can also grow up to 2 metres tall, given plenty of time and love, but, with regular clipping and maintaining, is still ideal as a hedge or border anywhere around 40cms tall to the 2 metre maximum. Plant 3 per metre or 30cms apart to make the perfect hedge or border.
The dense easy to manage foliage of English Box, makes it ideal for hedges, borders, or clipping into topiary and shapes. English box looks just as good in the garden, or in pots and containers and is easy to grow and easy to look after…. it is the perfect beginner plant.
we try to have plenty of stock of English Box throughout the year, but being a very popular line, it always sells out.
