In Victoria, Devils Ivy should be grown indoors in a well lit position of indirect natural light, in a position that is warm, keep the soil moist, or cool to touch, not too wet or it will rot, responds well to regular misting spray of water ( 3 or 4 times a week) on foliage and also responds well to a liquid feed once per month, for best health, growth and results.
Devils Ivy prefers partial sunlight for decks & patios, it does not like direct hot sun and will grow great outdoors during the warmer months, but bring it back inside the home where it is best suited During the cooler months

Poinsettia Red 14cm ONLY AVAILABLE IN DECEMBER
$13.99
Poinsettia, is a vibrant tropical plant with green foliage and bright red bracts at Christmas time.
we have Poinsettias available for purchase from 25th November until 23rd December every year.... unless SOLD out prior
Poinsettias originate from Mexico and prefer the warmer climates as an outdoor tropical plant, in their natural habitat they will colour up and flower from late august right through to the springs months. But they are grown and used the world over at Christmas time, due to their vibrant, beautiful bright red bracts. Our Poinsettias are specially grown in climate controlled frames to induce their natural habitat, so that in Australia, you can still have them looking perfect for our Christmas Months.
A little known fact about Poinsettias, is that they actually do flower. At the centre of the red bracts, buds & tiny red stamens appear, showing unusual yellow flowers.
Poinsettias look great in pots and containers and are ideal for festive decorations or on your Christmas Table.
in the cooler climates, Poinsettias are best grown in a well lit area of your home or covered patio, away from draughts.
If you are in a more tropical location, Poinsettias can be grown in a warm sheltered position in moist to well drained soils, that is frost free.
Poinsettias are more important to us than even the Christmas tree.... some of you will be thinking im nuts, but, thats how it is in our family... My Mum Dianne and my Wife Tracey are pretty bloody good at decorating Christmas trees and put a lot of time and effort in to them, that would make Myer look second rate, but every Christmas for the last 40 years of my 44 years have revolved around Dads Christmas Poinsettia crops. My Mum & Dad are well known Victoria wide for their Poinsettia Quality & knowledge.
Poinsettias are our family heritage and one that will continue for many more decades to come.
We hope you get plenty of joy out of their vibrant red beauty this Christmas Season.

Hypoestes RED Freckle Face or Polka Dot Plant 10cm
$4.69
Hypoestes, Freckle Face or Polka Dot plant are an easy to grow, vibrant little plant with eye catching, brightly spotted leaves with a range of pink, white and red coloured contrasting foliage.
Originating from Madagascar, Hypoestes are a herbaceous perennial and grow well in warmer climates outside all year round, but here in Victoria, we tend to treat them like an annual plant and have them either indoors or as a patio plant, where we shelter them from cold air, breezes and direct sunlight. I have mine potted in pots on my decking under cover and with regular pruning and feeding, they have continued to look great for a couple of years now. Hypoestes respond well to regular feeding, once per month with a good quality liquid feed will give you the best results.
Hypoestes can grow up to 40cms tall by 40cms wide depending on whether they are planted in the garden or in pots / containers..... in pots and containers, their growth may be smaller due to size of the pot / container that they are in, hypoestes prefer good potting mix, that if free draining and a moderate amount of watering, so dont let the soil dry out or your plants will wilt and discolour and dont have them too wet or they will rot.... dip your finger into the pot... if the top inch is dry, then they may need a drink... reduce the amount of water you give them during the cooler months.
Hypoestes like a semi shaded to shade position out doors and filtered indirect light indoors... too much direct light can cause the foliage colours to fade. To promote a bushier, more vibrant growth habit, regularly prune your hypoestes once every month or so.
like most plants, known pests for hypoestes are whiteflies, scale, aphids and mealy bugs, which are all easily treated using a white oil, whether it is bought mixed, or you have a safer homemade remedy, like we do, both will rectify that issue.
Hypoestes are great for adding vibrant colour to your pots inside your home and around your entertaining areas outdoors.
At Paddys Plants, we have stock of hypoestes most of the year, it is one of our favourite, easy to grow, year round colourful plants around our home
